Hi. I too have pain in my left breast and underarm. Also sometimes feel numbness in my left arm. I'm going to breast screening tomorrow. My mum has just been diagnosed after finding a lump in her left breast so I'm really hoping I'm clear as I need to be well for her. She has lumpectomy in March. When I had a physical exam the Dr found no lump but said it felt thicker, that's how I felt too. Also a heavy pulling sensation and sometimes a 'pinching' sensation.  First Dr I spoke to on the phone told me they take a 'wait and see' route but next , female Dr, got me in to see her. If it comes back positive I will be chatting to the first one to educate him.

Update......

I had mammogram and ultrasound this morning and have been given the all clear. The consultant said to rethink HRT as it can cause changes in the breasts, make them lumpy etc. making it harder to check and find cancerous lumps. She said I could be back and forth being checked when I find new lumps and bumps when they were just hormonal changes or even cysts. Has anyone else had this kind of response when they have been for screening?

Thank you. I'm very relieved.  No wine though, I'm off it for Lent . Don't need it , I'm happy enough today.

So glad you were given the all clear.   He basically said I'd have to live with the pain but could be hormonal.   But  didn't suggest anything apart from evening primrose and it'll take about 8 weeks if it works.  My breast are quite lumpy aswell.

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am delighted to hear that you were given the all clear today. A number of people who attend the breast clinic get the all clear. Many of them have cysts, fibroadenoma or hormonal changes. HRT can increase the risk of breast cancer, as well as causing changes in the breasts. I expect that this is why your consultant has advised you to re-think HRT?

The changes can cause additinal stresses, as well as needing additional checks. Many people are advised to discontinue HRT for these reasons.

Thank you. I will give the primrose oil a go and see if it helps.

I have breast pain and have tried evening primrose my gp said you need quite a high dose. I would ask your doctor how much they recommend. I hope they help you. It does take a while to have an effect. Great news from breast clinic.

My consultant told me to stop evening primrose, but recommended starflower oil. Have a word with your GP and see what s/he recommends.
