Breast Pain left breast

Hi I've been googling for weeks and so glad a post came up on here as all the others sites always seem to end up with breast cancer!!   Just after Xmas I made an appointment with gp, thought I was seeing gp as I've had breast pain and  under arm pain, but when I got there it seemed to be a student doctor to be fair I thought she did give a good examination she said she couldn't feel anything  and after she spoke to a doctor was giving naproxen for a month.  As she thought a strain.  Tablets didn't work maybe took a bit pain away under the arm but definitely not in my boob. Was at doctors for another reason and mentioned my boob, she examined me again but this time said I can feel something I'm referring you, appointment is this Friday but worried sick now she said this , I've prodded and poked it I can't feel anything different to before Xmas.  Pain can be intense down left side and down to nipple , one day and the next there but not as intense.

    Hi Trig,

Thank you for your update. It's good to hear that you had all the necessary tests and that all seems good. I think that you will feel happier to have had the biopsy as well. I know that it means another 2 weeks of waiting anxiously for the results, but in the long run, this is the gold standard test for cancer, so you can be certain that all is ok, when that comes back clear.

The breast can be a little tender after a biopsy, but it shouldn't last for too long.

Please let us know when your results come back - I'm sincerely hoping for more good news.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you for all your advice it's been really helpful.   So glad they do all the tests in one day least  two of the tests are clear which helps ease your mind abit.  Fingers crossed the biopsy is the same.   I'll let you know as soon as I get the results.  Thank you again.

    Hi Trig,

When all has been clear on mammogram and ultrasound, I'd be very surprised if your biopsy showed up anything untoward.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi to be fair the guy at the ultrasound said you can breathe easy now there's nothing there.  It was when I went back to see the clinician before you can go home.  He said everything is clear but I'd still like to take a biopsy of the lump.   So I said if you think that's best. I let him do it.

    Hi Trig,

It sounds as if the clinician is just dotting the is and crossing the ts, which is the gold standard of testing. If he hadn't done that, you would be sitting at home and still worrying, thinking that you couldn't be sure that you were all clear, because you never had a biopsy.

This way, for an extra few days worry, you can be absolutely certain that all is clear and set your mind to rest once and for all.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Ano when he mentioned biopsy I was shocked after the ultrasound, but I must admit if I had said no, I'd be wondering  still.  Least I know I had all the test done.

  •

You would be shocked, but this triple form of testing is almost routine.

  • Hi - hospital rang yesterday teatime to say biopsy is all clear and they've discharged me!!! So relieved!   Just have to see if The evening primrose helps the pain.   Xx

  • Hi. I too have pain in my left breast and underarm. Also sometimes feel numbness in my left arm. I'm going to breast screening tomorrow. My mum has just been diagnosed after finding a lump in her left breast so I'm really hoping I'm clear as I need to be well for her. She has lumpectomy in March. When I had a physical exam the Dr found no lump but said it felt thicker, that's how I felt too. Also a heavy pulling sensation and sometimes a 'pinching' sensation.  First Dr I spoke to on the phone told me they take a 'wait and see' route but next , female Dr, got me in to see her. If it comes back positive I will be chatting to the first one to educate him.

I hope your journey is positive. Good luck to all carrying this worry.
