Cervical cancer

I thought I was going through the menopause and wanted HRT so I had scan which started my journey. 4 weeks later when I thought the results of my biopsy would be normal. All 8 biopsies were cancerous. Changed my life. I'm strong and try everyday to think positive and my op is March 10 th. Radical hysterectomy. Ladies. Get checked if you have any abnormalities

  • Hello Sharon and a big welcome to Cancer Chat,

Thank you for coming here and sharing your story with us. It's good you had that scan and that they took those biopsies though I am sorry to hear those 8 biopsies were cancerous. I can imagine it was a bit of a shock and that you were not expecting this but it's good this has now been caught and that you are in good hands now to get the treatment you need.

There is information on our website on cervical cancer which includes a section on treatment you may find helpful. Information on the radical hysterectomy can be found here. I hope your operation goes well on the 10th of March and that you will hear from other forum members who have been through this before and that they will share their experience with you.

Other members of the forum have recently had a cervical cancer diagnosis and I hope they will be along shortly to share their story with you. I noticed for example [@Ndx]‍'s recent thread which you are welcome to respond to as there are other members on this thread like [@Tubsar]‍ who've also recently been diagnosed with cervical cancer. Hopefully you will also hear from others who had a cervival cancer diagnosis a while ago and who will be able to tell you more about what to expect in the coming weeks. One name that springs to my mind is [@LauraP]‍ who had cervical cancer many years ago and would be a great person for you to talk to.

Our nurses are also just a free phone call away if there is anything you would like to ask them - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm so don't hesitate to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040.

You are right that it's important to get checked for any abnormalities and I wish you the best of luck for your treatment. Everything crossed for you that it all goes well.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello

I'm just home from a colposcopy and biopsies taken.

    Feeling sore.

I went to the gp because of abnormal bleeding. Didn't realise I'd gone through the menopause.

So now the worrying starts for the results x

Update.. I'll leave this thread. I was looking and hoping for a bit of support

    Good luck to you all

  • Morning

Keep your chin up. I remember hearing those words. It's awful. I had 5 weeks of not knowing how or where it was down there. Please think positively even though it's often hard. Once you know what your dealing with you can find the courage. Keep fighting. We all have this. Lots of love xx

pre op Valentine's Day. Can't wait to get shot of this awful thing.
