Hello from Ireland

Hello ladies I've just been reading through some of your posts which have been very informative as I lost my sister who was 54 a year & a half ago to Ovarian Cancer ...as a precaution myself & my remaining 4 sisters had a CA125 test done and my came back at just 36 that was a year & a half ago so I asked for another CA125 blood test to be done last week and it has come back now at 80 so my doctor has requested an ultrasound for me ..... I'm soo worried now and I know everyone says don't be but it's very had not to be especially after seeing my sister go through it .  I've also been experiencing very heavy and painful periods but I'm putting that down to my age I'm 53 ... really I thought I'd be done with them by now .  Anyway it's a wait and see game now and I know there is long delays in getting appointments in Irish hospital .  The stress is awful

  • Hi AHeffernan,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your sister. It is only natural that you are worried as a result of this. I was in a similar position 13 years ago. I had lost my mum to secondary breast cancer and was then diagnosed with breast cancer myself. The following year, I have had a second bout of breast cancer. That was a hard year, but I still lead a busy and fulfilling life and have been fortunate enough to experience so many family milestones since then.

This is always a particularly stressful time. Try to keep yourself busy and stay away from consulting "Dr Google". Do you have any idea how long you are likely to have to wait for an ultrasound?

Please let us know when it comes through. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
