Fibroid

Just had a coposcopy and been told I have a large fibroid that's dropped. Obvs what's been causing my bleeding for last 4 months and terrible stomach pains. I'm terrified of being put to sleep so she says they will remove in in the hysteroscopy suite while I'm awake with few blockers? Presuming numbing injections.
many one had this done?? I'm terrified

  • Hello Mallets32 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat!

It's good they have identified what the cause of the bleeding an the terrible stomach pains is and that the fibroid removal will hopefully deal with these issues once and for all.

According to the NHS website's page on fibroids, hysteroscopic morcellation of fibroids  is usually carried out under a general or local anaesthetic and you'll usually be able to go home on the same day. The NHS website also has useful information about local anaesthesia

I hope that you will hear from others on the forum who have had a fibroid removed in this particular way before and that they will come and share their experience with you.

I am sure everything will go smoothly! Best of luck for the procedure,
