Bcc removal on lip by incision

Hello,

I am new to the forum and can see how much lovely support and advice that has been to worried people like myself and hoping I can find some reassurance myself . As I am suffering with real anxiety due to the procedure and don't seem to get the answers I am looking for from my surgeon !

I had a bbc removal on my lower lip 8 weeks ago and wondering how long it take a for the scar to heal ?? It does have a lump under the scar but was told that was due to internal stitches.  I apply Vaseline everyday to help with healing but I was hoping for it to have healed better by now? Have been told it can take up to 6 months to a year for full scar tissue to heal !   Worried as I didn't get much support from my the surgeon apart from it will take time !!
really paranoid about it . Can someone please advise and put my mind at rest that it will heal with only a small scar !
thank you in advance

  • Hello Spenny

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently needed to have a BCC removed from your lower lip.

It's understandable that you're feeling anxious and maybe frustrated by the lack of firm answers from your Consultant. Whilst no one can tell you with absolute certainty what the end result will be like, 8 weeks is still very early days in the healing process.

I wonder if you might find it helpful to chat through your concerns with one of our nurses. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support they can. If you want to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
