Hi

Hi my 79 year old mom found a lump early November which has been diagnosed as stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma, Her2 positive, she was told by cancer nurses she'd have a lumpectomy & radiotherapy - after seeing her surgeon she's now been advised to have chemo prior to surgery to try to shrink the tumour & reduce risk in case it's gone anywhere elesr and chemo & radiotherapy after.  She.  She's decided to go along with this but is understandably very concerned about how she'll cope with the chemo, my dad has prostate cancer and isn't as mobile as he used to be.  I'm making plans to move in to support them both throughout her treatment.  It's feeling like we're all in a nightmare at the moment.

    Hi ShazK,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's diagnosis. I can understand her concern about having chemo. There are different types of chemo and some cause more side-effects than others. It is also a fact that, some people get through with relatively few side-effects.

It sounds as if you are going to have your hands full caring for both of your parents, but they are lucky to have you. Just remember that if it all becomes too much, you can get carers in to help out.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine
