Lletz procedure under general anaesthetic. What will happen?

Hi.. I attended an outpatients appointment today for a lletz procedure but after having the local anaesthetic injected was told it wasn't safe to proceed and I would have to come back and have it done in theatre under a general anaesthetic. Something to do with my cervix being attached to my vaginal wall..?? I was so shocked I forgot to ask any questions like.. why does this need to be done in theatre? What are the risks? Got myself into a bit of a state over it.

  • I have just had my smear results back as high grade severe dyskaryosis I went for a colposcopy on Weds I was anxious about that anyway as I have severe arthritis in my left hip and pretty much most joints so mobility and flexibility are very difficult

The ladies were lovely, kind and helpful I'm also having a flare of vertigo so lying back is awful Still I managed it Then, after shuffling and shuffling and shuffling, I remembered that smear tests for me are difficult as my womb tilts back and cervix is narrow and I always have to put my fists under my back with a cushion! Nightmare The result? She couldn't do the procedure so 'just' took a biopsy and I'll have to come back for g a procedure I was reasonably calm about it all but now I'm suddenly very anxious

I hope all goes well for you and you get the right results x
