Lump in groin

I've found a pea sized lump in my groin a few month ago. Didn't really think anything of it as last year I had glandular fever and was thinking maybe it was the start of that again but my doctor said they tested for it and it's definitely not glandular fever. I've been back and forth to my gp as my blood tests have been high ( red blood cells and b12). I've been getting really dizzy, really itchy, feeling really hot when it's been freezing lately. Lost loads of weight over the past month. I don't want to get myself worried however my mum has just been all cleared of breast cancer both of my grandmothers have passed away of cancer. So I know it's now in the family. I've got a pelvic scan coming up soon. And have had another blood test today so hopefully I'll be getting some results soon!

  • Hello Kaite_S2208, happy new year 2023 and a big welcome to Cancer Chat!

I am sorry to hear you have experienced all these stressful issues recently and found this pea sized lump in your groin.  I hope that you will find out soon what has been causing these symptoms.

It's normal to be worried and that your family history is playing on your mind but try not to relate your current issues to the fact many members of your family have had cancer as there are so many other reasons which could explain your symptoms.

I hope that you won't need to wait too long for your pelvic scan and your blood test results. Waiting can be the hardest thing and make you even more worried and there are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for news. Try if you can not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
