More tests 3rd appointment

Hi everyone,
I had a routine mammogram and was called back after 2 weeks! Those 2 weeks were of.course very anxious.
I attended my appointment, had further X-rays, ultra sound scans and examinations.
The consultant explained.she was happy with the results and.i left relieved.
I have since had a further call to go back for more.scans and possible biopsy.
I feel like I am on a roller coaster right now. Is this normal to see a further Consultant?
I know this is probably just precautionary buy it's just a little unnerving
Thanks.in advance for any advice you can give me
Hugs to all

  • Hello Natjshop and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I can imagine this feels a bit like a rollercoaster for you as you were initially told by the consultant everything was fine and felt relieved but subsequently got a call to go back for more scans and a possible biopsy. I am not sure myself what this means and it may indeed just be precautionary but I can understand this is rather unnerving for you. I hope that you will hear from other members of our community to whom this has also happened and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

All you can do really for now is wait for these additional scans and for possible biopsy results. I hope you won't have to wait too long to find out more and I thought I would share these helpful tips with you to help you cope while waiting for important news.

Keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Best wishes,

  • I was called back after a routine mammogram for further tests. And after a biopsy and being told it was fine I got a call a few days later to say that I needed another biopsy. After relaxing and thinking everything was OK I was back to being a nervous wreck. So I had that 2nd biopsy (a vacuum one) last week and tomorrow I'm back for results. From what I understand is that a team of people meet once a week and discuss each patient and at that meeting they decided that the 1st biopsy wasn't good enough and wanted another one done. It sounds like it's the same with your case. If you need to ask any questions ring your breast clinical nurse as they will have all your info and tell you what's happening.  My GP has been great too so you can always ask them.

I think they are being really thorough and want to be 100% sure it's all OK. I'm a complete mess though.

I am sending you lots of love and hope that all is OK with you x
