I'm reaching out to anyone who is going through the emotions if waiting for a scan
Hiya,
Sorry to hear about your concerns. Hopefully it will not be anything to worry about and the scan will put your mind at rest.
I've had two CT scans in just over 12 months. The first one in 2021 was a staging scan to confirm the stage and the second one was in July 2022 for the pelvis, abdomen and thorax, to see if anything sinister had returned. The scan was all clear. The wait for the second one was worse than the first, as a colonoscopy had already confirmed that I had colon cancer in Sept. 2021 (which, to be honerst, I already knew, as I ticked nearly all of the boxes on the NHS symptoms list).
It's only natural to be emotional. I talked a lot to my wife about it - must've driven her nuts! Still do. I had my final CEA blood test of the year yesterday, so waiting for the result, now. It's a bit of a roller-coaster ride once you're 'in the process', but I got used to it. I did use nurses at Cancer Research on here to chat to and found the experience very positive, perhaps give them a call. The number is 0808 800 4040.
I know you've probably heard it millions of times already, but stay positive and keep busy, if you can. x
Hi, I'm not waiting for a scan but I am waiting for a biopsy on a large mouth ulcer. I feel like I am wishing the days away but absolutely terrified of what's to come.
Hope you aren't waiting too much longer x
Thank you so much everyone,it means so much to be able to reach out xx
