Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum

Hello Everyone.

I am very new to the Forum and to all the resources available to families who are experiencing cancer. There are so many brave people dealing with so much.

My Dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer (stage 2) 6 months ago. His treatment has been progressing quickly and consistently. He's had a few hiccups with one bout of sepsis which saw him stay in the hospital for 2.5 weeks.

I'm here really just to see if anyone has any advice on how to manage day-to-day symptoms like abdominal pain. rigors etc that don't alway need to go straight to the hospital but seem to show up for no reason (apart from te h obvious one)

Any advice would be great.

  • Hello SCMOC and a big welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am very sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis and that he had sepsis and he had to stay in hospital for that long.  I hope that he is better now.

I hope that you will hear from others on the forum who have been in a similar situation and had to deal with day-to-day symptoms like abdominal pain and that they will have some useful tips for you based on their personal experience. It might be worth also asking your dad's medical team for advice on how best to manage these symptoms.

Our nurses are available on this free number 0808 800 4040 if you would like to talk to them about this. Their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm so don't hesitate to give them a ring and I am sure they will have some good suggestions for you.

Wishing your dad the best of luck for his treatment - I hope that it is effective and works well for him.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
