Hello I've joined the forum today as I got diagnosed with breast cancer on Thursday. It's all very new & scary at the moment I don't really know how I should be feeling .xx
HI Dididdy,
A very warm welcome to our forum.
I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. We all react differently to a diagnosis like this. It is not at all unusual to feel scared, angry, frightened, to have trouble sleeping and to cry a lot. There really is no hard and fast way that you should feel. Can I ask what type and grade of breast cancer you have and what treatment is planned for you. If we know this, we can help you through it.
I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 13 years and must confess that I was a mess both tmes. It does get easier once you start your treatment and feel that you are doing something to fight it. I still lead a busy and fulfilling life, so even a cancer diagnosis doesn't have to be all doom and gloom.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Thank you Jolamine,
I've got type 2 & my lymph node biopsy has tested positive,I've got to have a CT scan on Wednesday & then I think I will see my consultant & the treatment will begin
Hi Dididdy,
Did they say what actual type of breast cancer you have? This is important, as some types are more aggressive than others. Do you know how many lymph nodes tested positive? Don't be afraid to ask these questions, if you don't know. I found it helpful to take a list of questions with me every time I met my consultant or oncologist.
I hope that all goes well with your CT on Wednesday.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hello Jolamine
Al I know at the moment is that I have provisional grade 2 invasive ductal cancer. The biopsy under my arm result says axilla positive.I had my CT scan yesterday & I'm now waiting for the hospital to call me for an appointment.
Dididdy xx
Hi Dididdy,
In this case, you have Invasive Ductal Cancer. This means that the cancer is in the breast ducts. I hope that you get an appointment through from the hospital soon. In the meantime, write down any questions you have for your consultant and takes these with you to your appointment. You will want to kno how many lymph nodes are affected and if there is any sign of further spread.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
