Nausea

Hi I am an anxiety sufferer and have constant thoughts that I have cancer. I have been feeling nauseous since about June of this year and have lost my appetite  I have lost a bit of weight but think that is due to not eating much. I have been to the doctors numerous times and had loads of bloods done. Everything has come back normal but I'm still convinced that I have cancer. Would something show up in my bloods? I have spoken to the doctor about my concerns and she has said that something would be a miss in my bloods but I'm not convinced or that could be my anxiety.  Any help would be appreciated as I am constantly worrying. Thanks.

  • Hello Louby24

I'm really sorry to hear that you've been struggling with anxiety about your health and that despite multiple Dr's appointments and clear test results you're still worried that you have cancer.

Anxiety can indeed cause nausea and consequently weight loss if you're not eating properly. You need to go back to your GP and explain how the anxiety is impacting your daily life and ask for some help and support so that you can better manage this issue. There is some useful information available on the NHS website about managing health anxiety.

I hope you're able to find the help you need and that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for replying. I have had the nausea since June and am still convinced I have cancer even though I have no other symptoms. I have had bloods taken. Would something have shown up in my bloods? I'm driving myself mad thinking the worst. My doctor doesn't seem concerned. Thanks
