Breast wounds

Hi I have open wounds on my breast  5 on the right breast ( 2 of them starting as big blisters like id been burnt) which have all had some stuff coming out and bleeding I've been to docs and hospital and I have just finished my third lot of antibiotics and they haven't gone away ...please could you give me some advice ..thank you

  • A warm welcome to the forum Sjolly although I'm sorry for the reason you're joining us.

As these wounds haven't gone away or healed with the aid of the antibiotics, you will need to go back to your GP and let them know. I know this must be very frustrating especially as they've given you antibiotics three times but do persist and ask what other options are available. If you feel you're not being listened to, then you could look in to getting a second opinion from a different doctor.

Hopefully some of our members will offer their thoughts and advice to you soon as well but if you'd like to have a quick chat with one of our nurses about this, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

We're thinking of you Sjolly and hope this can be resolved soon.

    All the best,

  • Hi [@Sjolly]‍,

I had radiotherapy to my right breast in April after my lumpectomy in November last year.

In May I began to get extreme redness and peeling of the skin under my right breast and it had started to supporate clear fluid.

I had to go to surgery twice to see different GP and each of them prescribed either a mild steroid combined antibiotic cream and a packet of gauze swabs which made things worse or a course or two of antibiotics that made things a bit better.

I was told I had radiation burns and for 3 weeks I went to the practice nurse to have non adhesive dressings applied twice a week which really let the burns heal up and new skin regrow.

This was helped by the thin application of flamizine cream after wound cleaned with sterile water and dried before application of the dressings plus another course of antibiotics..
