Endometrial polps

Been bleeding badly for ten years, had had aneamia for most of that time ,everytime I have gone to the doctors just blood tests and more tablets .five years ago told to have the myreana coil fitted ,it didn't work .since Christmas 2021 bleeding got so much worse ,never stopped really ,more blood tests ,blood count is very low .my doctor upped my iron tablets again .then one evening I was in pain and blood was literally pouring downy legs ,my partner had enough he rang 111 ,I then had a phone call off a duty doctor ,he was not happy atall .he said he would send a letter to mydoctors  , 3 days later another doctor from my surgery phoned ,he was fuming that I had put up with this for so long .next week went for internal ultrasound, I had thickening of the womb .the next week was sent for a hysteriscopy ,I had polps and they took a biopsy

Waiting is awful.the next week I am told to go for a hysteroscopy again to have a procedure to remove polps  it was all moving really quickly ,was given painkillers and entonox procedure was painful .afterwards was told that my womb was full of polps and looked suspicious, but my last biopsy had come back clear ,so now I have no idea what to think and have to wait another to weeks for results. Was wondering if anybody else had a similar experience  and if everything turned out OK x

  • Welcome to the forum Pennypue although I'm sorry to read what you've been through. It sounds like you've had a lot to contend with over the last 10 years but I'm glad things are finally moving in the right direction.

Hopefully some of our members will share their experiences with you soon but in the meantime, I hope the information and advice given in this article will help you get through the next two weeks of waiting for your results.

We're thinking of you Pennypue and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi there

I am in a similar situation although I haven't been suffeeei f for as long as you have. My periods have been getting heavier and heavier with lots of clots but I put this down to my age (54) and being perimenopausal. Since the end of March I have been bleeding constantly and losing huge  clots that make my legs go weak. In June I had an ultrasound that showed a thickening of my uterus 25mm and possible polyps. My iron was low due to the bleeding

I had a cervical smear test on Monday which was horrific due to the bleeding and my latest blood results are now down to 6 and I'm  now waiting for an  iron transfusion.
I had my hysteroscopy today. Biopsies taken and polyps seen but they couldn't  put the mirena coil in as they hoped because it may cause more bleeding. So I need to go back and have the polyps removed and coil fitted whilst I wait for the results, To be honest the anaemia is the worst thing at the moment and having the biggest impact. Good luck x
