Call back after biopsy

Hi all

Not sure what I am after really but just need to get this out there, at least out of my head.  I had a biopsy on a breast lump and was told I would get a phone call with the results this coming  Monday.  Yesterday I got a text msg with a follow up appointment for this week.   This has really shaken me,  as I was told they would ring with them.

I was trying really hard not to worry and now I am back to worrying.

  • Hi

I'm not much help as I'm waiting on results too mines been 8 days so far waiting on phone call. Sometimes I think they can fit you in to give results. write away anytime hope you get good results

The waiting is so hard. Did they tell you much on scan or biopsy what to expect?

  • They rang me up after the biopsy to say my mammogram was clear and  that they would ring with my biopsy results.  Hence the recall appt sending me into a spin.  I've had   negative/clear biopsy results by phone before.

Everything crossed your results are clearx

  • Maybe they can't call cause it's now a bank holiday Monday x. Try not to worry to much hope you will be ok good luck x

    Hi Eileen,

A very warm welcome to our forum. Try not to worry. As laraj said, this is possibly because of the unexpected bank holiday tomorrow. Most doctors prefer to give us results face to face, regardless of the outcome and which way we receive them has no bearing on what they have to say.

I sincerely hope that all turns out well for you.

Please keep in touch and letus know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

I'm the same is so hard waiting for results. Good mammogram was clear.

On my biopsy they didn't say too much just said probably ring with results but nothing yet makes you scared to answer the phone.

Yes definitely could be because of bank holiday xx

  • Thank you for the lovely msg.  Fingers crossed all clear for you x

  • Hi all.

I received a letter last week on Friday calling me back after a routine mammogram. I'm 50 years old. My left breast is a bit lumpy and tender. My routine mammogram was a month ago, so the letter to call me back was sent 4 weeks after the mammogram. Is this normal? I know the NHS are very busy and struggling since COVID. I just expected it be clear, because I hadn't received a letter quickly so I'm a bit shocked.

I had a mammogram July 21 that was clear, so 14 months ago. Does anyone know if you can get breast that didn't show up the previous year?

I'm a bit worried because I had an agressive leukemia 4 years ago which has been in remission since my bone marrow transplant 4 years ago. I've been told my chance of another cancer is increased due to the amount of high dose chemo I received for a year, including the very high doses of chemo used in the transplant.

Anyone recieved their call back letter after a month, or had a mammogram more recently than 3 years ago?

Appreciate any help. Thank you x

  • Hi Deb,

I'm not much help as not had a mammogram you sound like you've been through so much already and all the waiting doesn't help.

Letter could maybe be slow with bank holidays and covid etc. I'm still waiting on biopsy results.
