Lung cancer. Need advice please

Good evening all.

Hope you all are keeping well and ️

I'm 35 years old.

I've had a constant cough for 5 weeks. I've had 3 lots of antibiotics. I've even been given an inhaler. Nothing is helping my chest. I cough every couple of minutes and I cough stuff up.

(Sorry)

I've just had a chest xray I have 7 days for results.

I'm dreading the results as my mother died of lung cancer.

Thank you for reading.

  • Hello ToriOllin and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am so sorry to hear that you have had this cough for 5 weeks. It must be totally exhausting for you and I can imagine you are feeling anxious at the moment as you are waiting for these important results. It's normal that you are currently fearing the worst especially if your mother died of lung cancer.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be as there are so many things that could explain your symptoms. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. It won't be long now until you hear back from your X-Ray results and I thought I would share with you these helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
