A worried person

Good evening everyone,

I had emergency appointment with a DR today. I have a mole that has changed size, shape, colour and crusts over sometimes. Drs faced dropped when she looked at the mole. Her facial expression couldn't hide. Within 10 mins of leaving I had a call with my referral to the hospital for 31st August...I did ask if she thought it was cancerous she said she couldn't be certain stupid question to ask I know. I got a text with cancer information on it from the medical secretary. Worst but is my son is currently going through chemo. Not sure how to feel but feel it would be better to put it into words without voicing it if that makes sense. Thank you for reading x

  • Hello Shellybeans1983 and a big welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am sorry to hear you are feeling so worried about your mole. It sounds from what you describe that it is the kind of mole that needs close examination as it's been changing size, colour and shape and crusting over. It's good that the doctor has acted quickly and that you won't have to wait very long now to be seen at the hospital. It's normal that you were told by the doctor that she couldn't be certain as further tests are probably necessary in order to identify whether your mole is suspicious or not.

Even though you got a text with cancer information from the medical secretary, try not to assume this definitely means your mole is melanoma as you won't know until a specialist has looked at it and carried out further tests and a biopsy if they deem it necessary.

It must be incredibly hard for you to have to be dealing with this with your son currently going through chemotherapy too. I know it's really hard to do this, but try and take one day at a time while you are waiting to find out more. There is information on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope that you will hear from other forum members who have been through a similar diagnosis process and that they will share their experience with you.

Keeping everything tightly crossed for you that your mole turns out to be nothing of concern,

    Best wishes,
