Breast biopsy results tomorrow. 2nd time in 6 years

Hi everyone

I'm 48

I was diagnosed with stage 3a IDC ER+, PR+, HER+ with 9 lymph nodes out of 21 affected, in 2016 at the age of 42.

I had lumpectomy, axillary node clearance, chemo, radio, hormone therapy and targeted therapy.

I went for a mammogram,  ultra sound and 7 biopsies in breast and underarm after discovering a lump in my other breast and swollen axillary lymph nodes and get my results at half 1 tomorrow.

Anyone with stories of getting breast cancer in other breast after the first time?

Scared but strangely calm at the same time.

Look forward to chatting to all you lovely people on here xx

  • Thank you so much for taking the one to answer my probing questions when you must still be in shock yourself. I really do hope I can support you too through this xx

  • Ask as many questions as you need to, honestly.

We need to support each other x

  • Well, I've just managed 40 mins without thinking about it and made spinach and broccoli soup with added turmeric. Xx

  • That sounds nice!

Whatever happens, worrying doesn't change anything or certainly help anyone.

Face everything head on and know how many treatments are now available to us and how common this is.

    Hi Melly and Teecass,

I am so sorry to hear that you are both facing this yet again. I was diagnosed with pure mucinous breast cancer 12 years ago. I was informed that if I had to have cancer, this was one of the best types to have, as it was slow growing and one of the less invasive types. I had a lumpectomy, followed by Tamoxifen. Less than 6 months later, I developed a large lump in my other breast. My surgeon felt sure that this could be cancerous. Fortunately, this proved not to be the case when it was tested.

A further 6 months down the line - almost a year to the day of my first diagnosis, I found a lump in my original breast. This time it was a new primary, so I had a double mastectomy, followed by Letrozole for 6 and a half years. Since then, I am pleased to report that I have remained cancer free.

Melly, have you discussed where you go from here with your consultant and how soon you can start to get to grips with this?

Teecass, I hope that your results are not as bad, as I'm sure your imagination is telling you. This wait is always a worrying time and our imaginations run into overdrive, whilst we are waiting.

Please both of you,  keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful post.

I have to have a CT scan first then a consultation with my surgeon x

  • Hello,

sorry to hear you are going through this again, hopfully you will receive good news!

I am currently waiting for an appointment to receive results from a biopsy. The appointment I was given is four weeks away, this is a face to face appointment which has made me worry. Can I ask how long you had to wait for your results appointment please? It seems a long time x

  • I waited one week. I also called the breast clinic  where I'd had my biopsy etc, and insisted they phoned me with my results. I could face going there for them!

They said they'd prefer not to give results over the phone but I explained that, I  order to protect my mental health, I needed them over the phone.

They agreed eventually, so just insist. It's your body, your results.

As for 4 weeks wait, that's torture! Where do you live?
