Positive fit test

Hi all

I have recieved a positive fit result of 34.9 and am having a colonoscopy on 15th August even though I have been dealt with quite quickly I am very worried of the outcome, does anyone know if I will be told on the day if they find anything.

Many thanks

  • On the day, they will be able to tell you if they found any polyps or took any biopsies. They may also be able to tell you if they found ant indications of IBD or anything like that, but I'm less sure about that.

If they take biopsies or there are polyps, you will have to wait for results of those, but I think they often say if they are concerned or not.

If they don't find anything concerning, they will definitely be able to tell you on the day.

  • You are likely to witness for yourself on the screen & they will tell you if biopsies are taken. After mine I had a letter/copy of what they found straight after.Obviously if you have biopsies the results will be later.

  • Hello sorry to hear about your positive FIT test. It is really good you will be having a colonoscopy soon because the earlier you're seen, the better chances of being treated.

Hopefully it is not anything serious, most people referred do not end up having cancer.

I am one of them. I had a positive FIT test of over 400 (wasn't told the exact number) and had a sigmoidoscopy (looks at part of the colon instead of the whole) last week.

They gave me a report after the procedure which said that haemorrhoids was found, no evidence of cancer seen and biopsies taken to test for microscopic inflammation. Hopefully the biopsies don't come positive for cancer but I feel it is unlikely as I didn't have polyps or a tumour.

Hoping everything turns out okay for you.
