Hi, I'm new to this forum, so here goes.

I had my first treatment of Folfox on 29th July. for bowel cancer.

I developed diarrhoea last Tuesday, and this has persisted since despite taking maximum dose of medication.

It is getting me down and I am becoming depressed - I am eating regularly but it is going straight through so I also feel weak.

How long is this likely to last?

    I'm sorry about the diarrhoea you've been contending with since your first Folfox treatment.

    Unfortunately this can be a common side effect from this treatment but as this hasn't improved it would to best to let your GP or cancer team know so they can help.

    Hopefully some of our members who have experienced this will share their advice and experiences with you as well but if you'd like to discuss this with one of our cancer nurses they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Thank you for your reply.

    I was admitted to hospital last Monday evening with neutropenic sepsis, but fortunately discharged on Friday.

    Now awaiting confirmation for date of second treatment!

    That must have been very scary ggc47 but I'm glad you have recovered and are now back at home. 

    Rest up and fingers crossed your second treatment can begin soon.
