Newly Diagnosed

Hi all.

I was told yesterday that I have a 5.2cm tumour on my right kidney, and have a lung CT booked for next week to check for metastases.

Currently hanging all my hopes on no spread and 'just' losing a kidney!

Scared but holding up okay at the moment, and just wanted to introduce myself.

  • Hello Deb

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with kidney cancer. It's naturally a worrying time for you right now but it sounds like you're taking a positive step-by-step approach to things and this will undoubtedly stand you in good stead. I know that many of our members have said how it helped them to try and think positively during their diagnosis and treatment,

It's good to hear that you already have your CT booked and hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the team to give you the results. Presumably, once this CT has been done they will be in a better position to discuss the next steps in your treatment plan with you.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're most welcome to give them a call. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support that they can as well as help you think about any questions that you might want to ask at your next appointment. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Deb and let us know how you get on next week.

    Best wishes,
