Enlarged lymph node

Hello all, just to let you know my story

I've been ill for all of 2022, had a large lymph node and blisters/spots in my time, for 3 months my doctor's said nothing was wrong with me. But after numerous blood tests Ive had glandular fever, Covid and sinusitis this year. I've had my first ever panic attack this year. Been having negative thoughts because it's daunting and uncontrollable

I've got an ultrasound in 10 days which I'm dreading and will be on my own but hopefully it will be good/ok news

I could be fretting about nothing and when you think other people have it worse it makes me feel guilty. But I just want things to be back the way they were

  • Hello Jk2222

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some health problems over the past few months and that you're now waiting for an ultrasound on a raised lymph node.

It can be hard not to feel worried or anxious about your health when you've been unwell for an extended period of time but hopefully, the ultrasound that you have booked will offer you some reassurance and you'll be able to get back on the right track to good health.

Given that the blood results show you've had a number of infections over the past year these could well be responsible for the raised lymph node that you have. Try not to jump to any conclusions that there is something more serious going on at this point. Taking a positive approach to how you think about your health can make a huge difference.

Whilst you're waiting for your appointment I'd suggest having a look at the information on the NHS about health anxiety. There's lots of good advice and tips for how to manage your thoughts and feelings. This is something proactive that you can take charge of to help yourself during this rocky patch.

I do hope that the results bring good news and reassurance to you and that things improve soon.

    Best wishes,
