Anxious and poorly

Hi all, I am very poorly and frustrated. I had hepatitis c most of my adult life after contracting as a teen and it being discovered very late on. I had treatment for it in 2016 and have been ok until around 18 months ago. I have so many symptoms I don't know where to begin but severe itching and nausea, muscle weakness, slight fever, chest pains, upper and lower back pain, blood blisters on tongue, fatigue, no sense of taste and smell for more than a year and flu symptoms are some of them. Because my function tests come back normal they refuse to scan my liver but I feel sure this is the problem area. Does anyone have any thoughts or similar experience? I feel I'm deteriorating fast. They are currently testing me for bowel cancer and h pylori as my stomach has swollen up but I feel they are on the wrong track.

  • Hello there, friend. I hope you're well.

I am very sorry to hear that. It can't have been easy. Do you think your new symptoms might be linked to the Hep C you had, or were they able to treat that fully? Although I haven't experienced symptoms or illnesses as specific as these (and I'm definitely no medical professional), I have felt the need to be persistent with the doctors when they are unable to find anything wrong when I have a feeling there is. I understand the helplessness when nobody listens or takes action. I certainly wouldn't lose hope, and continue to trust your gut. I would say to see if these tests come back with answers, otherwise, continue to be persistent, or if you're able to, seek a second opinion elsewhere. You know yourself best. I've found in the past it's taken many times of me going to see my GP before the case was solved. Again, I'm awfully sorry you're going through all of this and I hope that you will receive some clarity on your situation as soon as possible. Please keep us updated. I'm always here to chat if you need any support.

    Have a good night.
