  • Hello S-T,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat. Many of our members will relate to this feeling of waiting for results and having the impression that time goes really slowly or is standing still. I can understand it is really worrying for you to be told that a lesion was found and to be waiting for further results and I am so sorry to hear about your husband's cancer diagnosis last year.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi S-t, I'm so sorry that you and your husband are both going through this at the moment. It must be so tiring for you to have to deal with so much all at once. I'm so sorry. I know how bad it feels at the moment, that worry and anxiety, but remember you are not alone we are all here for you and will offer you support all the way. I'm new here myself and can relate to how your feeling at the moment.

The waiting is, horrible. Time almost stops, the days are long, tiring and your mind races with the what if's and you may turn or want to turn to Dr Google. I know it's easy to do that but please don't, Google will give you all the worst things and have you even more worried! I've been there and done that so many times, it never helps, just makes everything a million times worse.

The best thing you can do for yourself is try to keep busy and not worry. I know it's easier said than done but if you can manage that then you will feel so much better. A busy mind is a happy and calm mind. When I'm waiting for results I like to keep busy by listening to audiobooks, organising my bears, watching a fun animation movie... Anything really.. Just helps a little too keep me occupied and no time for thinking. Hopefully you can find something for yourself.

Remember to talk about how you're feeling. Don't bottle it up.

Please take care of yourself. I send best wishes to you and your husband. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your results and that everything will be good in the end.
