Horris

Eight years ago whilst undergoing scans for a kidney abscess a small anomaly was discovered in the upper part of my right lung. It was decided to have the top lobe removed I named the little blighter Horris, well the operation never took  place, my cardiologist actually thought that it had when I spoke to him in February this year. He ordered an X Ray and it is stage 4 adenocarcinoma, inoperable. Should this really have happened having discovered it so early.

  • Hello Alankey,

was it a case of shying away with cold feet for not following up on getting the proceedure done?.Its always all to easy to put off things that are not causing problems, especially when other issues come along and get in the way, especially medical ones.Life never gets any simpler to deal with does it?,

  • Hi David

When treatments or operations were discussed I always agreed to the suggestions but there never seemed to be any follow up. On occasion I would be asked to see my GP for a review of my medication regarding a condition unrelated to these we are discussing, I would always ask about any developments regarding Horris, to which he would reply not to worry   I wouldn't be falling through any cracks in the system.

  • Hello Alan,

thank you for the more detailed explanation, and in answer to your original question, and based upon your response.no this should never have been allowed to progress this far.So how do you stand now with any treatments now that surgery has been ruled out,and how are you coping with it physically?.

                         David

  • Hi David

  • Hello again Alan,

thanks for the big up but my understanding like most others on this site is limited, specific, not initially sought and learnt the hard way,the knowledge is handled by the professionals that oversee our care.

The figures suggest that your visitor has managed to get his feet well under your table, found the sofa in the lounge, learnt to work the TV remote, and is watching sport with a cold beer. Its been all too easy for Horris so far,so it would be good to anticipate a rude awakening in the very near future, but its good to read that you are getting relief from the pain.

Apologies if this reads as glib, its not intended to be,but its how l viewed my unwelcome squatter and put it on a level l felt easier to relate to,especially in the following period when l was completely zonked by radiotherapy and extremely enthusiastic chemotherapy, trying to retain numbers and titles through brain fog is impossible, but that vision in your minds eye seems possible to retain. l have always tried to embrace the KISS principle on the basis that its even accessible to idiots like myself.

Things should move fairly quickly from here, with your MDT meeting and working out your treatment plan options, waiting is the worst along with not knowing, its always surprising how well you can cope with knowledge once you have it, indecision is always the enemy.

l hope the next few weeks see's you as comfortable as you can possibly be quietly gathering your strengths, you will need them all in the not too distant future,

stay calm and try not to work too hard at being stressed,

                                                                                                                         David

  • Hi David

I appreciate your sense of humour in your reply as I actually have quite a warped sense of humour  myself. Horris has been living freely for quite sometime now and rent payments are severely overdue, a matter, which I intend to address, in a vigorous and aggressive manner. Thanks again.

    Alan

  • Hi Alankey

I'm in the same position as you just not such a serious stage and grade, none the less spread to my lymph nodes.

Do you want to message me privately?

    Regards

  • Alan,

l wish you well in your transition to the Landlord from Hell.Should this result in the fullness of time,of a removal van making an appearance, that would be excellent news..Meanwhile keep all those cold beers for yourself,

                                     David

  • David

My transition will be back to the stars where each and every one of our elements come from.

  • Hi Alan

No idea if i can help but not only am i in a very similar position to yourself as previously stated, but i also cared for my husband who was misdiagnosed repeatedly on his cancer journey to the grave in 2011. So i really do get it from both a care giver that had to stand back and watch his decline to the one now on the same journey. If you need a shoulder, I have two.....anytime.
