Hello jojocrayon, and first of all may I say how sorry I am about your Mum and also what you yourself are going through.  I nursed my Mum when she was dying of cancer, so when I say that I know exactly how you feel, I truly do.  It is a devastating experience.  Tell your Mum that if there is anything at all that she needs from you, to just ask.  Just by being with your mum, you are supporting her.  Please remember to tell your Mum how much you love her, because I have always regretted that I never told my Mum how much I loved her when she was dying.  In fact, say everything that you need to say.  You might be wondering how you are going to cope, but you will find an inner strength that you never realised you had.  Sending love and virtual hugs, Violet, x

Hi, my mum has just been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer too. Gallbladder cancer with mets in her liver, breasts, and lungs and a lot of her abdominal lymph nodes. She was told on Tuesday she has 3-6 months to live. She's only 56. I am absolutely devastated, she is relatively well so I'm hoping she may be with us longer than their prediction. She has a liver biopsy next week to see if she can have any palliative chemo. 
 

Im sorry your mum is poorly too. It is the worst thing I've ever gone through. I'm so close to mum x

Thank you for responding and I'm sorry to hear about your mum and what you're going through too. My mum has been offered palliative chemo which starts next week. She doesn't want to know life expectancy but I know as I talked to the dr with her blessing and I'm utterly heartbroken. Like you I hope that she defies the odds and responds to chemo well. I'm back to work tomorrow after visiting her (she lives two hours away) and I'm dreading it as ironically I work on an oncology ward. I'll be going up to stay with her as often as I can in between shifts. Do you know of any support offered to families like counselling? X
