Hate the Wait!

Hello,

I am so anxious waiting for the results of the biopsies of my rectum following a colonoscopy.

I'm a 40yo Male and visited my GP about 4 weeks ago due to having blood clots and blood in my stool for about 2 months. After some blood and stool samples were tested I was scheduled for a Colonoscopy under the 2WW pathway which I had yesterday(Sunday).

During the pre assessment with the nurse they questioned my 'liver problem' which was news to me and at the time thought nothing of it. Colonoscopy done   with multiple flat polyps in my anus the largest being about 20mm. The endoscopist explained that he couldn't remove them and took biopsies.

So, this morning thinking about my 'liver problem' I go onto the test results section on MyNHS app and look at my recent blood results which show an abnormal reading. Curiosity gets the better of me and I Google it...big mistake...I'll never learn!

Hello everyone I'm Billy:cool:

  • Hi Billy! Welcome to the waiting club. I've frequently heard that this is the worst part of the entire process and I'm starting to see why... You got any idea how long you'll be waiting for the results?

And yep, googling is a big mistake - I advise you to stay away from any research whatsoever if you can. I don't know exactly what the test results for your liver said, but if it's like anything else, the results could mean a multitude of different things, some less serious than others. But because we're human, we're prone to zone in on the worst possible outcome!

I hope you're not waiting too long for the results anyway and fingers crossed everything comes back OK.

  • Thanks Paul,

hopefully you're not waiting too long as well. Keep us updated.

    Billy

  • Biopsies take different times to be reported as they got to different labs depending how busy they are will cause delays in getting the results. Unfortunately Covid has done nothing to improve the waiting. The colorectal department were quick to refer me to gynaecology oncology but my problems were visible and not dependent upon results.
take care don't look at google to much they only give the poor outcomes never everything was fine.
