my son has NHL :(

Hi ... I just want to introduce myself and maybe connect with someone.  My 38 year old son has been diagnosed with NHL Bcell.  He is very unwell and awaiting start of CHOP-R treatment in Canada.  I am in the UK.  I just want to get on a plane and go.  Thanks for reading.

  • Hello Fruitloop100

I'm so sorry to hear about your son's recent diagnosis and that at the moment he's very unwell. It must be difficult being so far away from him at a time like this and it's perfectly natural that you want to be with him to support him. I hope that he has a good support network of family and friends around him.

It can be difficult when you're so far away to feel that you don't always have up-to-date information about things. We have some information about diffuse large B cell lymphoma on our website that may be helpful to you but I wanted to let you know that we also have a team of nurses that you can contact. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any information, advice, and support that they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch with us here Fruitloop100. The forum is here as a safe space for you to ask questions, offload your thoughts and emotions, or to simply chat with others who understand.

I hope that all goes smoothly with your son's treatment.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello Jenn

Thank you so much for your response.  Thank you for the signposting as well.

It is very difficult and I do feel helpless.  He does not want me to make the journey as yet.  He is to see Cancer Care for a consultation today with a scheduled PET  scan tomorrow.

I am ready to fly at a moment's notice - when he says I can.  I understand that he and his partner need to get their own heads around this first.  Just so hard as his mum :(
