Biopsy results Laryngeal cancer .

Hi all

I  lost my voice/ hoarse voice, last November , by early February i was getting imbarresed by the sound of my voice and every one commenting , so I went to see my gp who did a referral to the ENT for a camera at the end of February . The ENT found what looked like as he described as a wart type growth on the vocal chord .two days later I went for a pet scan/ct scan . I was told I was on the cancer pathway and they needed to remove this growth and do a biopsy . So on March the 19th I went for the operation , but still not had results back yet. Should I have anything to worry about . I have contacted the ENT department twice but my consultants seceraty says she is waiting for him to check the results still And i will hear from them soon.

I'm only 31 year old  male who doesn't really have any major health apart from an immune defficency.

Im probably just over thinking everything , more so because I was told they would probably no within 14 days. It's probably nothing .

  • Hello K.roy,

A big welcome to Cancer Chat. Try not to worry too much as it may just be that they are experiencing delays. You did very well though to contact the ENT department and it sounds like they haven't had a chance to check the results yet and that you will hopefully hear from them very soon. Don't read anything into this though and I am sure you will find out more in the next few days.

All you can do in the meantime is wait which is often described here as the hardest thing. Keep well away from the temptation of looking things up on Google as this will only bring you the worst possibilities and make you even more anxious. Try and keep distracted and busy and focused on other things - I know it's easier said than done though!

There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I am keeping everything tightly crossed for you that everything turns out to be fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi K.roy,

I am waiting for an excisional biopsy result myself - although in a totally different department. I also know my results are in and I am also waiting for the results to be signed off by consultant. My results were in on 14th April. People say no news it good news, but is it? They are not the ones having sleepless nights whilst they can't be bothered to write a report - or dictate a letter to a secretary. They won't even release any info to your GP who could probably understand the information and at least give you an idea what's going on. I hope you hear something soon!
