The waiting.

Is driving me crazy...

Hi everyone,  Hope everyone is keeping their spirits up.

I'm currently waiting for the results of my CT and haematology bloods. All was clear from GP tests.  Itching and night sweats have been unbearable since last week.  Scheduled telephone appointment with haematologist next Friday to discuss results.  Appointment was made before I attended the CT.

Is no news good news?

  • Hi LBLsMum,

A very warm welcome to our forum,

In my experience, the speed with which you get your results has no bearing on the outcome. I hope that all goes well for you next Friday.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you Jolamine,

    Hope you are well.

Think it's a day of overthinking and googling too much.  I suspect we've all been there.

I will definetly keep in touch.  More of a lurker than a writer.

Symptoms which led me to where I am:

Weight loss (2.5 stones last summer), Itching started October, worsened by December (changed washing powder, as we do), night sweats came back (went through early menapause years ago!!) Day fevers started around December.  Didn't occur to me to see or speak to anyone about anything until I found a lump in my left armpit in February  which prompted me to go to the GP (high occurence of cancer on my mums side of the family - NHL, cancers - breast/bowel/lung/brain.  GP found more lumps in neck/groin and right armpit. I can't feel them and can't feel the initial one anymore.

The itching and sweats are driving me crazy but apart from that all is good at the moment. Need to stop googlng though.

    Everyone take care x

    Hi LBLsMum,

I can understand why you're worried. Waiting for results is one of the worst points of our cancer journey. However, you have done the right thing by getting this checked out. It is all too easy to give rein to your imagination and to end up in dark places. Google certainly doesn't help this. Try to avoid this until you know what you're dealing with.

Your GP can prescribe something to reduce the itching and the night sweats, but possibly doesn't want to do anything until you get a diagnosis.

I hope that all goes well on Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
