MRI scan

Hi we've been told  4 days ago husband has a brain tumour he's in hospital and doesn't remember much short term also losing peripheral vision in right eye very wobbly on his feet too. He was admitted by ambulance because he was very sick and sleepy. Can anyone tell me how long it's normal to wait for MRI scan? It's torture waiting to know if it's treatable no one is telling us anything, the nurses are lovely but the doctors rarely around to speak to. It's exhausting mentally preparing to possibly hear the worst news I'm desperate to support him when he realises what's happening.

    Hi Katkin,

A very warm welcome to the forum that nobody really wants to join.

I am so sorry to hear about your husband's symptoms and can understand why you're so worried. It is impossible to say how long your husband may have to wait for an MRI, as waiting times vary throughout the country. However, because he is now an in-patient, I hope that it won't be too long - possibly days, rather than weeks. The best way to discover the time scale is to ask the doctors or nurses how long they think it is likely to take. They should have a better idea of what local wating times are and whether or not there is a backlog or delay due to the incidences of Covid.

Don't be afraid to write down a list of questions to ask. Has he had these symptoms for long?

Please let us know how he gets on and, remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
