Newly diagnosed

Hi

im new here I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer I've just had a lymph node biopsy op and am due to have a mastectomy soon I'm not sure when yet but I'm scared:/   I've got my head around the diagnosis ( I think) but not looking forward to the pain and being pretty useless for 6 or more weeks!

  • Hii, welcome to the forum. I'm really sorry to hear about your diagnosis. This must be a really awful and scary time for you. Do you have any family, friends and support around you? If you do, be sure to turn to them and talk to them when you need to. And you'll have your nurse to and of course we are all here for you as well.

I know it's hard right now but hang in there. We're all here with you lovely.

Sending you lots of hugs and love,

    Jess x

    Hi Birdranger,

A very warm welcome to our forum. Do you know what type and grade of breast cancer you have? I have had a lumpectomy nearly 13 years ago and then had a second bout the following year and had a double mastectomy. If it's of any consolation to you, I managed better with the bilateral mastectomy than I did with the lumpectomy.

Breast cancer is now one of the most treatable forms of cancer, so place your trust in your care team and, they will do their best for you. Don't be afraid to ask any questions that you need to. Have you got a date for your biopsy results yet? I expect that you will probably be given a date for surgery once these come back. As Jess has already said, don't bottle this all up. Talk to family and friends and remember that we are always here for you too.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi

    Thank you

yes I have family to talk to thankfully x

  • Hi

i know It's nst invasive and Yes ive got a date for my biopsy results next week

sorry to hear what you've been through and yes that is a little reassuring.

I was ok the first week after this first op and was thinking this is not too bad but week 2 it is quite sore which it seems from reading a few threads is quite common  I'm doing my exercises which helps a bit

But then I've got more surgery to come. It definitely helps knowing others are going through similar and I'm not alone

    Hi Birdranger,

I'm glad to hear that you have a date for your biopsy results. It is unfortunately natural to be sorer as things begin to heal, but hopefully this won't last for long. Make sure to do your exercises regularly, as this makes all the difference to your long-term recovery.

You are certainly not alone and, we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • My mum has recently had biopsy on her kidney and also her bladder, the doctor at hospital said her bladder wasn't looking right, I'm so nervous for her, how long did others wait for results ?

  • Sorry to hear about your mum
I waited just over 2 weeks for my results appointment
