2cm lump Found by the doctors yesterday

So worried about this , they found this 2cm lump and the woman I was talking to and answering questions too looked so worried when I answered her questions . I've been referred and will get a phone call or letter in the next 2 weeks .

cancer is on both sides of the family and I've watched 2 people die from it litterally infromt of my eyes so I am terrified .

I've got 2 children and family and my absaoute rock of a best friend who I don't want to leave behind . To me Cancer means I won't be around for too long . How will they all cope?

    Hi Angie,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear about your lump. You are doing the right thing by getting this investigated, but please try to stop your imagination from running away with you. Breast cancer is now one of the most treatable forms of cancer. I lost my Mum to secondary breast cancer and have had 2 bouts myself in the past 12 years. There has been just no comparison between the diagnosis, treatment and aftercare which we both experienced and, further advances are being made all of the time.

A breast lump is not always cancerous. Many turn out to be benign cysts, hormonal or fibrous changes. It is also a fact that only 1 person in every 8 who attend the breast clinic will get a cancer diagnosis.

I have lost a number of other relatives to this disease too and know just how frightening it is to watch somebody die in front of you. It is only natural that your first throughts are for your children - mine were too. Since I was diagnosed I have seen my two leave school, go to university, graduate, find gainful employment, marry and have families of their own. I still manage to live a busy and fulfilling life and you are likely to do so too.

I hope that your appointment comes through soon. Please let us know how you get on and remember, that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
