Breast cancer mri results

Hi All this is my first post

i have recently been diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in my left breast but after getting my mri results today I am unable to start treatment as they have found what they believe are 2 begnin lumps

1 in my right breast 10mm which I need another scan and biopsy on and another near my spine which I have to have another mri scan for

I was feeling positive and had my head around my cancer and the treatment I needed but now feeling absolutely terrified as what if these are secoundrys?

has anyone else been through this?

Hi Lucy,
Pleased to hear youre likely to be given the all clear on additional findings. I was diagnosed with 19mm IDC grade2 in October last year. I'm wondering why I haven't been given an MRI scan? I had clear margins and negative nodes after surgery. Was there something particular that triggered the need for an MRI?

Hi Jane
no the 1st mri was a follow up from my biopsy which confirmed cancer and they wanted the mri to get a more detailed image abs check both breasts more thoroughly
the 2 nd mri was because the 1st showed an area near my spine which they suspect is a neuroma but needed to do another scan to be sure, I get the results from this onthurs hopefully
Im not sure why you have not been offered an mri but it may be worth asking the question to put your mind at rest
i am pleased your surgery went well and your nodes are clear that's great news

Hi Jane
I have a 17mm , grade 1 , IDC , her 2 negative, hormone sensitive cancer so could this be the reason?
Not sure how yours is grade 2 either?

Hi Lucy,
I'll ask about the MRI when I next see the onco. I wonder whether it's because mine was picked up through screening and it was my third mammogram so there would be previous images to compare for changes? My initial biopsy stated the tumour was grade 1 and scan said 15mm but this changed to grade 2 19mm after the surgery and full results were in. This often happens apparently. The BC itself was stage 1. I'm on holiday at the moment in the Canary islands with my daughter and grandson....there is life after BC.

yes that sounds possible I'm sure if they had needed an mri you would have had one. It's strange folliwing a biopsy the grade changed, I ent gave a state yet but mine is approx 17mm so sounds a similar situation to yours
It's good to hear the positive story's as there are so many sad ones out there
