2 weeks after my radiotherapy - having really tough time

Hi, I'm 2 weeks after completion of a 7 week intensive ratiotherapy (Mon-Fri) with 2 chemotherapy 10 hour  sessions  (week 1 and week 5) included.
I was warned to expect things to get worse and start to settle down within a few weeks, I'm currently experiencing quite a traumatic time. Mornings are usually quite harsh, so much phlym that it often causes me to be violently sick, I quite often have blood mixed in with the phlym. One of my main problems is I can't swallow so it's difficult to manage oral pain relief.
I'm currently using morphine patches to manage pain.
my wife found this site yesterday and it has really helped just to see we are not alone.
We are very much managing everything one day at a time.

  • Hello There

May i suggest joining the a Macmillan online community  .  I assume your cancer treatment was to the head / neck area given the symptoms you mention .  There are many on Macmillan who have had this treatment that can help with suggestions to help with the mucus -  I will be starting this very same therapy in a few weeks so I lnown  I too will experience this.

Have  the hospital offered you a nebuliser ? You may be able to get one from them or you can purchase them on amazon £30 to  £40 alternatively steaming inhaling over a bowl  of hot water and drinking as much as you possibly can until this phase passes , which it will ️
