Rapid results 2 days after Hysteroscopy

Hi :)

I've suffered with heavy irregular periods since being a teenager. This was never taken seriously by doctors and I was told it was due to my elevated BMI and would calm down upon losing weight. At 23, I had my daughter via elective CSection..and things got gradually worse. I'm now 34..and a few weeks ago..I had enough after continuous bleeding for nearly 8 weeks. Sent for a scan..I was diagnosed with PCOS..something I had been telling them for years..and a thickened endometrial lining at 15mm. Within days, I had recieved a letter for a Gynae appointment. I was examined and told that I would be forwarded to Hysteroscopy. 2 days later, I received a phone call telling me to come in the next day. I attended and had several biopsies taken and the mirena coil was put in. The doctor sat me down, was vague but said that she did see something suspicious and would schedule a face to face appointment when the results were back. Fast forward 2 days..I have recieved a letter stating I need to be seen and given a date in 5 days time.

This is alot quicker than I expected..I thought it would be a fair few weeks before I heard anything.

I'm not worried..what will be will be.

Has anyone else received their result so quickly??

Thankyou for reading :)

  • Hello KateRS and welcome to Cancer Chat,

It's great that things are moving fast and that you will be seen in the next few days. It can take you by surprise when you get results so quickly but you're right not to be worried and to think that what will be will be even if it's not an easy thing to do. At least getting results quickly means that you will have some certainty sooner and will know what you are dealing with. Sometimes the long wait for answers can be the most stressful part as many of our members have mentioned on here.

I hope that you will hear from other members of the forum who have received their results shortly after a hysteroscopy and that they will come and share their experience with you.

I am keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out to be fine and is easily treatable. Keep us updated if you get a chance when you find out more.

    Best wishes,
