Nans Sinister MRI

My nan is 81 years old, she has recently been struggling with chest pains and due to this my mum made her contact 111 which she was then directed to the hospital.

After days of spending hours in and out of hospital waiting rooms she was finally given an MRI to see what's happening with her chest.

The nurse has now suggested that there is a sinister mark on her lungs. I understand that the nurse isn't able to say whether it's cancer or not until further tests are conducted but I've always known sinister to mean cancer.

My nan isn't eating much and losing a lot of weight rapidly and she's made up her mind if it is lung cancer she is ready to die and doesn't want any treatments.

I was wondering if anybody had any advice for anything that could ease her pain other than treatment. I realise I don't have much information and it could all be a mistake, I just want to be prepared for the worst case scenarios.

Thank you

  • Hello Christine97,

I'm sorry to hear your nan has been having these symptoms, but as you say there's no way of knowing until it's investigated further. I can understand that you want to feel prepared, but the doctor would be the best person to address any concerns you have.

All the best to you and your nan,
