Hi I'm writing on behalf of my wife. We've both recently had colonoscopies mine was as expected slightly painful almost like severe wind or cramps but disappeared straight after. I did have sedation but i don't think it was enough as i never felt dizzy or drowsy at all and remember everthing that was going on before during and after. I had three polyps removed one being 15 to 20 mm. And a biopsy. And my results came back fine. But! My poor wife, first of all the Doctor who carried out the procedure was rude dismissive impatient and angry. He kept his back turned to my wife when she entered the room he was not even considerate of the pain he was putting my wife through, the assitant tried her best to comfort my wife. The doctor almost blamed my wife for her bowel not being completely emptied. But the assistant said because of all the previous operations my wife has had the bowel is not laying in the right position and it is also restricted it might be a little more uncomfortable. When my wife was trying to ask the doctor something while the procedure was taking place he dismissed my wife and said to one of his assistants (SHE is talking to me) you talk to her. That made her feel like she wasnt supposed to be there. Well my wife came out of that surgery completely traumatised. And has now said she will never have that procedure again and will refuse ever to be treated by that doctor again. On top of all if that she was left in pain for over 6 days later. I might add my wife is no wimp she's had a massive cyst removed from the base of her spine as a teenager where she had to lay on her front for over a week while they dressed the wound using morphine. shes had a gallbladder removed she's had two babies she's had a hysterectomy. So no she's no wimp and never normally complains. But now I'm concerned that she won't go through anymore procedures like this again. The only thing she's now aware of is that they found a 2 centimetre polyp in the lower part of her bowel. And said she will need a G.A. to remove this. My wife has suffered for over 30 years with bowel issues since the removal of the gallbladder and had never been checked as to why she has this problem only labelled as IBS.. i just thought I'd share this small story and has anybody got any answers to what we can do next?
