NH Lymphoma

Hi Everyone and thanks for adding me to the group. I was diagnosed in July 2020 with SLE Lupus and Rhuematoid Arthritis. Aftyer trying various drugs which didn't help I was put on Methotrexate and after 6 months 'lumps' started appearing. Moving on to August 2021 and I had a biopsy taken which confirmed NH Lymphoma Diffuse Large B Cell. Methotrexate had caused this and is one of the very rare side effects. I began Chemo RChop on 16th December 2021 and am half way through 6 sessions. I have Nivestim stomach injections for 5 days after each Chemo and have experienced bad side effects from the start. Am now taking Nabilone for the sickness but cannot shift the heaving, nausea and constant bad heads. My 4th Chemo is on 25th Feb and I know each cycle produces worse side effects which is giving me a lot of anxiety. Consultant has put me on Lorazepam at night which allows me a few hours sleep. (being a constant insomniac for 40 years doesn't help with added heaving etc!)

Any advice would be welcome from feloow sufferers.  My survival rate is put at 60% as stage 4, but am reasurred that lymphomas are small and Consultant is confident that this is curative. PET scan in May will hopefully confirm this!

COVID does not help matters for any of us I am sure.

Take care everyone and best wishes.

  • Hello JanElaine

I'm sorry to hear about all that you've been through with your health over the past two years. It sounds like it's been an incredibly difficult time for you and it's understandable that you may be feeling anxious and worried about things.

I'm unsure if we've any members here who have the same diagnosis as you but many of our members will understand the struggles that can go hand in hand with treatment. Hopefully they will post to share their experiences and words of support with you soon.

It does sound really positive that your Consultant is talking about treatment being curative and hopefully the PET scan in May will bring the good news that you want to hear. Try to keep that as your focus through these last few sessions.

We know that for many people being able to talk to someone about all that they are going through can be very helpful. If you'd like to chat with one of our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support that they can.

Keep in touch JanElaine and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
