Compression Sleeve

Hi, I'm posting on behalf of my Mum - she has mild lymphoedema in her arm following mastectomy and I think is going to be given a compression sleeve. Just wondering what other people's experiences were of these? Did they help to reduce the swelling much? Thanks!

    Hi Emily,

I had a double mastectomy 11 years ago and now have bilateral Lympoedema. I have worn a number of different types of sleeves over the years. Some have been much more comfortable than others. It is also important to get properly measured for these and to get the correct fit.

I also attend the Lymphoedema Clinic for 2 weeks every 12 weeks. Here the Lymphoedema nurse measures the girth of my arm from shoulders to fingertips and then gives me some manual lymphatic drainage. In all honesty, they haven't reduced the swelling much, but they have prevented the swelling from getting any worse.

I hope that these help your mum.

    Knd regards,

    Jolamine xx
