Asbestos

Good morning 

 

I'm hoping for some information/reassurance 

I moved into a council flat a few months ago , I had 2 floods in my bathroom , which caused them to come and assess the flooring which the man stated " is potentially asbestos flooring" he also wanted the ceiling tested .

they came to test today but ever since I've been in panic mode about everything , any crack in the walls or ceiling I'm going crazy over . In one of my cupboards there was damaged to part of the plaster , which I covered with filler but now panicking about this . Especially because I have a baby here too , am I being silly it's just really effecting me I don't sleep properly because of the worry , 

Isit just my flat or Isit the other flats too that would have it

    Firstly it's great that it is being tested - this will give you the information you need to hopefully give you some peace of mind, even if it means a few repairs that need doing.

    Try not to worry - typically there is only a risk through repeated exposure over many years. You mention you only recently moved into the flat, so you won't have had that long-term exposure.

    I would encourage you to search 'asbestos' on this forum (using the button in the blue bar above). Others have had similar worries to yourself, and there is a lot of useful information you can have a look at in some of the discussions, and hopefully get some reassurance from them.
