    Hi 1971traceyw

Im, on Letrazole as well, and will be on it for 10 years,I did notice my hair was thinning at the back a tiny bit near the crown. So i  started to use products to strengthen and hopefully thicken my hair. I bought a hair  thickening shampoo  *Alpecan Caffine shampoo for men) as id read from women that they had used it and it helped ,but not everyone some had seen results, some hadn't.  But any shampoo or products that contain caffeine  do help to stimulate hair growth. Another thing that is good for hair is nettle hair tonic.

The shampoo did help my hair thicken up more, and I bought a  thickening hair mouse  for when I blow dry my hair  I used to be a hairdresser  I trained in ladies and gents hairdressing,I achieved a credit pass in City and guilds. So I do know a lot about hair .

Massaging your scalp also helps,to stimulate the blood supply to the hair follicles, Don't brush your hair when it's wet always use a detankling comb first before you use a brush to blow dry ,if that's how you dry your hair. And do try to use heat protecting products as well as it will help.

Also with letrazole there are so many different brands, and it's usualy trial and error before you find a brand that suits you and your body.

I have had cippia, that one was awful ,I've heard of Dr Ready ,and a few other brands. The one I found suited me was the Accord brand,so I requested  my gp to prescribe me that one.

Apparently it's all to do with the coating on the letrazole tablets, they all look the same but different brands use different ingredients on the coating on the tablets. I didnt know this at first but so glad I found out about it,as I didn't know different brands, we're actually different  lol, as I just thought letrazole was letrazole, all the same.

I do hope your hair stops thinning,if you haven't tried any of my suggestions, do try them.  But if you have and nothing seems to be working, try changing your letrazole brand to another one  ,and give each brand you try at least 3 mths, write down the affects its having on you and your hair. Hopefully you will find a brand that suits you ,and your hair. If you don't, then I'd talk to your oncologist or your GP and raise your concerns to them, you never know they may have come across this before and might be able to help . Goid luck with it all, hope it helps you .

  • thats so kind of you to reply and thank you

    Hi 1971traceyw,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I was on Tamoxifen for 1 year and then took Letrozole for 6½ years. I noticed my hair thinning too and used Alpecin shampoo, which helped a little. Have a word with your specialist breast care nurse and see what she advises. There are other treatments, but most of them have similar side-effects.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
