Hi I'm new to all this I'm really worried I have a core biopsy booked in for Tuesday in my neck. I'm so scared of the pain has anyone else had one what is the pain like ?
I actually had a needle biopsy done in November and a follow up core biopsy done Christmas Eve!!! Didn't stop me having a good Christmas ! Just take some pain killers as it is sore for a bit but nothing major. Worse part for me was lifting my head when I was in bed, didn't realise you used so much neck doing that!! I will add though I had three samples taken so you may have less than that!!! Either way don't worry, the whole thing was really fine, the dr reassured me and you'll have the area numbed. You'll hear a click a bit like a biro pen or something but it doesn't hurt, just a sting here or there.
Thank you so much for the reply the pain afterwards I can probably cope with it's the pain during that I'm dreading I'm not good with needles so really scared about that. I hope your keeping ok now.
I didn't actually see the needles so in regards to that I think you will be okay. They were really good and making sure I was okay and giving me time to relax and breath. They even made sure I sat up for a while after in case I felt woozy, so if I were you I would just mention that you don't like needles and they will just do everything that can to calm you. But honestly it's nothing scary. I bet you imagining a giant needle or something but it's honestly tiny. The plaster they gave me was the size of a penny and the dot was so small you could hardly see it. So I believe you will be okay. Just keep in your happy place :)
