I've had left lung cancer last year need advice and help ple

Hello my name is Joanne,

I had top apex of left lung took out due to early cancer in April 21. I've had pain in my lower left ribs at the and round to the back. I had X ray on 10th Jan 22, and it came back Wednesday the 12th but didn't ring me so went into GP surgery yesterday 14th Jan 22 and reception said all other tests that were done where normal but some has been seen on my X Ray but they couldn't tell only that it's being looked at by senior GP doctor and doctor will be contact with me on Monday 17th Jan 22. I'm worried there is another cancer in my remaining lung and in remaining left lung have a bit of COPD. Just wondering if anyone else has been in this position and will it be cancer in remaining lung and how many days does it take for GP to tell you have cancer I'm beside myself and very anxious and I know to wait till Monday but I'm so frightened. Any help or advice very welcome. Thank you All. Joby. (Joanne).

  • No answers for you. But i really dislike why some gp practices do this. Make you sweat over a weekend. Aye, enjoy your weekend.

I went through a health scare around 15 years ago. Had suspected secondary polycythaemia (too much red blood cells) due to chronic dehydration, but i needed blood tests every 3 weeks to check if my counts were going down. Anyway, after one of those blood tests, my doctor called my house at 6.30pm on a Friday. I just missed the call as I was getting in the door from work. He left a message saying it was very important i get back to him on Monday. I called right back, but surgery was closed. One of the worst weekends of my life.

Went on Monday 1st thing and it turned out he just wanted to let me know my bloods were going in the right direction. Was relieved, but still angry. He could have either just said that in the message or not called at all. Told them never to call me last thing on a Friday again.

I know you called them, but they could have said the tests were still to be looked over rather than you being left hanging all weekend "because something was on the xray". That could mean anything or be anything. Infection, a harmless shadow or even nothing of note. Yet you've been left fearing the absolute worse.

  • Profbaw, Thank you for your reply. Nice of you. If it ends up Monday that results are ok I will be very angry with who I speak with because it is not nice leaving someone to worry over weekend as they have my results from Wednesday this week they do know I've not long had one lot of cancer they should know better than leaving someone hanging over two days there not open.

Any that's my rant over lol. I will stay optimistic for now and positive and will see what Monday brings. Just had bad news of my father in law just been diagnosed with Dementia which my husband is upset about at the moment so let's hope I've not got another cancer going on in my body. I will look after my husband anyway help him through his bad news.

Well roll on Monday. Luv Joby. Xxx
