Lump found in breast

Hi my names Lisa,

I found a lump in my right breast about 2 days ago, just above  that I found what felt like another lump or a swollen gland (it's between my breast and armpit. I've been to the doctor and she said it's not cancer but is sending me for a scan. Is this something they do as a precaution? Since finding the lump I've had a very achey right arm and shoulder. I have recently been diagnosed with ms so my anxiety is through the roof anyway then finding the lump is tipping me over the edge. I'm 34 and have 2 young boys, 2 and 5. Could I be reading too much into this?

don't know what to do!

    Hi,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

You have done the right thing by seeing your GP and, she is doing the right thing by referring you to the breast clinic. It is reassuring that your GP is pretty sure that this is not cancer. However, it is commonplace for us to be referred to the breast clinic just to make sure that  there is nothing untoward.  There are a number of reasons for breast lumps beside cancer. In fact, for every 8 people who attend the breast clinic, only 1 will get a cancer diagnosis.

The younger you are the less likely you are to have cancer, so here's hoping for good news. Whatever you do, please stay away from google, as thiwill only scare you further and serve no good purpose. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
