Hot sweats following tamoxifen

I was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago when I was 46. Had lumpectomy, chemo, radio, herceptin and 5 years of tamixifen and thankful I'm all clear at the moment. I stopped menstruating as soon as the chemo started and had horrendous sweats and flushes throughout the 5 years. I have finished the prescribed length of time for tamixifen last August but still have horrible hot sweats etc. Is there anyone that could advise. I would be grateful for any help or suggestions as to whether this is normal. Thanks

  • Hi Jrl123,

A very warm welcome tor forum.

I am so sorry to hear that you are still having the hot sweats. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer. First time I had Tamoxifen. Second time I took Letrozole for 6½ years. I stopped taking this in July 2017, almost 5 years ago, but I still have hot flushes and night sweats.

I tried Clonidene to reduce these at first, but it made no difference. I now take Venlafaxine and this has reduced the frequency, although not stopped them altogether.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
