Unbearable pain in breast

Hi guys,

I have had severe pain in my breast for 4 days now I have been to the doctors and she has actually found a lump in it too so waiting for a scan to find out more, has anyone had severe burning in their breast I can't pin point where the pain is it just hurts constantly it's stopping me from sleeping and doing everyday things, painkillers aren't stopping it has anyone got any tricks to help ease the pain please

  • Welcome to the forum Romy although I'm sorry to hear the painkillers are not helping with the pain in your breast.

The NHS website recommends rubbing a painkilling gel on the breasts or wearing a soft bra for sleeping but there are more handy tips and advice for managing breast pain on Breast Cancer Now.

Hopefully some of our members will share their tips and tricks with you soon but if you can, do let your GP know the painkillers aren't working so they can provide you with something more effective.

I know this must be very difficult but I hope the information I've provided will help and you're able to enjoy the festive period.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi. Whilst not as intense as yours, my wife had something similar. It was caused by the lump pressing on a nerve.

If your gp thinks this is what's happening, they can sometimes prescribe medication(amitrptyline etc) that can dull nerve pain. It can have some garbage side effects, though. Painkillers tend to be less effective on nerve pain.
