Hello all

Hi, I am a 54y old chap and after a partial nephrectomy in 2008 had ten lovely years thinking I had beaten this horrible disease.

I'm now stage 4 and have had immuno, gamma knife and a half my left lung taken out. Cabo is tough as it has left me unable to do sport and exercise so that is one of the biggest mental issues I have as well as my marriage which I feel is falling apart as a result of this

  • Hi tabletop,

I'm sorry to hear of your situation. I can understand the difficulty of not being able to do the things you enjoy, especially as exercise is a positive outlet. Try if you can to find other hobbies or activities that can achieve something similar - something for you to focus on that can be a distraction and a bit of a release.

In terms of other areas, hopefully you have others around you that you can speak to for support - perhaps other family and friends. We are of course always here for support on the forum if you need it - it can be helpful to write things down and to reach out to others.

If you find you're struggling and would like additional support or someone to speak to, have a look at Macmillan and Maggie's, who both have helplines and other resources available.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Thanks Ben.

Yes, I am trying to do as much as I can do really. I restarted some part time work (God knows why!) and do some non energetic sport as well as see a friend each week but obviously living with someone who I had a relationship before and is seeing a cancer patient and not her husband is the worst thing that's happened to me. It actually feels worse than the cancer TBH.
