Terminal diagnosis at 56

I am on chemo (week 8) and struggling emotionally. Is anyone else in the same situation?

  • Hello JenO

I'm so sorry to hear that you're struggling with things at the moment. It's understandably a difficult time and whilst it may sound like a cliche, many of our members who have been in the same situation will understand the rollercoaster that this diagnosis and treatments can bring.

Hopefully, some of our members who are living with a stage 4 diagnosis will post to share their words of support and advice with you. In the meantime, I wanted to let you know about some sources of support that you might find helpful. Here at Cancer Research Uk, we have a team of nurses that you can call to speak with for advice, information, and support. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.  You may also want to consider getting in touch with your local Maggie's centre. They are able to offer lots of different sources of support that you may find helpful. I'd also really encourage you to chat with your Consultant, clinical nurse specialist or chemo team. Let them know how you're feeling and if you have any concerns. They will be able to let you know about any local support that may be available for you.

You're most welcome to keep posting here on the forum JenO. Let us know how you're getting on and we'll do our best to listen and help.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
